Re: FN-FORUM: Coldfusion hosting

Just joined so catching the tail-end of this.
Myspace was implemented using fusebox 3 methodology. Although their code
is written in CFML (Coldfusion Markup) they actually run on top of
BlueDragon.Net with SQL2005 db servers.
They used to run on Adobe/Macromedia/Allaire CF, however BD offered them
a cheaper option and to compile CFML to native .Net
BD sell BD.net as a way to migrate away from CF to .Net however I know a
number of companies that have gone that way, only to leave CF
development in place purely because it's just about the fastest
development environment around.
I am of course biased. I've been using CF for over 7 years now :)
What I would point out though with Myspace is the "I kept on crashing
into trees driving a Ford, so I'm switching to a Honda" mentality. The
site is only as good as the code base. The technology wouldn't have made
much difference. However CF is probably allowing them to add more
features a lot quicker.
Some of the above may be slightly inaccurate. (They may be on FB4 by now)
Anyway Hi
Adam
