Subject: FN-FORUM: Which bank?
Please could someone recommend a good bank to have your business account
with. I'm currently with NatWest and get charged a fortune for any
transaction which isn't online. I take credit card payments too if that
makes any difference.
Any advice much appreciated.
Serena,
Banks tend to change over the years but on a consistently poor basis, banks
to stay clear of are NatWest, HSBC, Royal Bank of Scotland and Bank of
Scotland. They use a creaming technique for charges.
Barclays seem reasonable for business accounts just now but be aware that
you should negotiate your rates from the outset. Others have found Abbey
good, but they are truly appalling for client direct payments into the
account or from a high street.
HTH,
Mike A.
