RE: FN-FORUM: Is it possible to host a website on two servers as a backup?

its completely possible, you'd need to use a DNS management service though. We use something simular at 'work'. Our main server is with fasthosts but, in case of a total outage at FH we've a secondary server in the states. Our DNS management service has a 'failover' system which constantly checks if the FH site is responding, if not it swaps the DNS record over to point the domain name at the secondary host then back again when FH starts responding, happens within about 30 seconds or so of FH going offline.
The advantage of this is that you have a pretty much bulletproof website in terms of uptime, the downside is you have to keep both servers up to date (which isnt a big deal really). I'm not 100% sure but I think we use EasyDns.
