IMexp some clients can get incredibly mardy about downtime, but if you push them to put an actual cost per hour on the downtime they rapidly realise that they can take a day's downtime on the chin, and the best option is to move to a more comprehensive hosting package rather than spending £1000s to save £100s.
DNS failover sounds like a very cost effective method for most clients (I had no idea the service was so cheap!), so long as you can sort out any database issues. Its what I'll be recommending in the future.
