FN-FORUM: Yes, its the postcode question again! only slightly different

Morning all,

I know we have discussed postcodes over and over again, but for me the
situation still seems not to be resolved.
I am building a website for a client which will bring up local info,
based on a city, country or region that the person enters on the start
page. I would also like to allow them to enter a postcode, and it
bring up the nearest town/city.
I know there are now dozens of independent "Free the postcode"
movements out there, but do you guys know that any of them are
comprehensive enough?
Ideally I am guessing I need some form of mapping of the first part of
the postcode to the towns and cities, so it may not need to be that
comprehensive, I would like to hear all of your thoughts on this.
