RE: FN-FORUM: Bandwidth issues

Hi Michele, you sent me the url off list so I'm assuming you don't want to
publish it here but after looking at the site your client can substantially
reduce her page sizes by learning how to size and compress her images
correctly.
Most of the images on the site are large images 50k+ and have not been
compressed correctly (Use fireworks for best jpg compression) and also many
are resized in the browser (HTML) from much larger images.
Most of the images could be resized to the needed dimensions and compressed
to say JPG at 70% and would be more like 8k instead of 50k with little or no
loss of quality.
Current homepage size of 370k could be reduced to under 100k without any
loss of quality. That's almost a 1/4 of the current size (so saving 3/4 of
the current bandwidth usage).
As suggested you can also check there logs, SmarterStats has a nice
bandwidth report that can dig down into all areas of your site.
Regards
Sam Morgan
