FN-FORUM: Desiging a members area

Hi,
I'm trying to design a members area for my site. It will consist of:

Main file displayed upon entering area: Then I will need navigation to:

Games area, Home work help area, tools area, chat-rooms (will be two, one
adult one children), Other areas as required.

Problem how and where to locate this section, IE what depth of folders
should I aim for, should I totally change the design, How can I check the
entry age into the chat rooms.

Any help or if you have any links of sites doing this when its not their
main function....
