Re: FN-FORUM: Small Claims court ruling

I thought I would just hijack this thread to let anyone interested
know that I was recently successful in my own small claim recently (it
was mentioned here last year). It was a subcontract job where my
client had not properly specified their own client's requirements, but
then expected me to deliver exactly what their client wanted. In fact
I did more or less go along with this, trying to avoid having to go to
court for payment, but in the process hit a server compatibility
problem. When I failed to promise to overcome this within their
unrealistic deadline, they pulled the plug and went to another
developer. In court the judge was satisfied that I had in fact
delivered a working system which conformed to the original (very
vague) brief, so awarded my full claim, costs and all the limited
expenses etc. available to the small claims track. I was lucky that my
client was at least truthful, and wanted to avoid a CCJ, and after the
ruling paid up right away.
