Anyone can use any From: address - just type what you want it to be into
your e-mail client settings. Faking the From: address is trivially easy,
which is why SPF was invented, to link the domain's e-mail address with
the domain's mail servers using DNS records. You can still fake the
address, but the receiving server can use SPF to check whether the mail
came from a valid server IP for the From: address' domain.
