FN-FORUM: New web development tool for the Mac
date posted 3rd May 2007 13:30
There seems to be an embarrassment of riches for the web designer on
the Mac nowadays - here is another.
Coda, from panic software, seems very nice from my initial view. It
gives a one-window development environment with access to file
management, editing, preview (using WebKit, so based on the engine in
Safari), CSS form- or text-based editing, simple publishing by ftp
and a terminal window for more advanced command-line management. It
also has direct access to online documentation for html, css, php and
JavaScript, support for jsp (and even seems to let you edit ruby code
from a brief look).
Looks quite slick. There is no visual editing environment but ficking
between edit and preview tabs is very easy (not that I use visual
editing in any of the tools I use anyway). There is a free download
(expect it is time-limited) from http://w.panic.com/coda/
Anyway, I'm not a shareholder - just tried it out and like it,
thought I would share.
Regards,
Ian.
