I've turned off the dhcp on the draytek, checked the logs and there is
nothing in the DNS log. Only a couple of smaller unrelated issues in the
other logs (time server and a printer issue).
AFAIK for the dhcp to work through draytek I should be able to ping the
draytek from the server (2 network cards in the server, one for the
broadband, one for the network). Unfortunately I cannot ping the draytek
from the server or any client PC's.
Both the server and the draytek are on the same subnet.
Am I right in thinking that I have to be able to get the server to ping the
draytek before I can address any other issues ?

The Draytek should not be the DHCP server, you must use the SBS. The
Draytek does not support the correct options for AD. I suspect that DNS
is wrong too, which would explain why you can't join the domain.. Why
didn't you follow the SBS wizards and set it up in the recommended way?
Anything red in the event logs?

If it is SBS premium, you may need to tell ISA to allow the wireless
clients on to the LAN - getting them to VPN back in would be the most
secure way. I use an AP inside ISA for internal wireless clients.
