I use I frames all the time because of AJAX, but not in the way everyone
will think. Placing a div over some form elements in IE6 does not work
properly, regardless of what the z-value of the form elements and the
divs are.
IE6 will always show a above everything else.
Except an I frame.
In a few places I have tool-tip type divs to display some help text on
complicated forms. The code to display these will automatically create
an iframe and place the iframe under the tool-tip div, making the div
work as expected.
Other than that, I think they should be avoided.
