My 2p
When I was lecturing I always told my students 'the only stupid question is
the one that is not asked', I use Google but have seen replies to
'googleable' questions on here that work well as a reference for the future,
so pros and cons all ways.
As I say just my 2p

I think this is fair enough - if someone's tried to solve a problem before
asking it always seems a lot more worthwhile helping!

If the answer can be found by just googling, then surely asking in here
instead isn't so much a question of what feels more comfortable, but rather
getting someone else to expend the time and effort to solve it...
