RE: FN-FORUM: Ordnance Survey map data (was: Vector Map of UK & Ireland)

Anthony,
It gets even more complex when you consider the update information supplied
by the OS. Does TeleAtlas, who purchase a copy of OS MasterMap, have the
most up to date data? Or do they add value to it by owning out of date data
and doing there own updates? OS offer many different licencing versions,
some allow the re-sale of the data, some only allow the re-sale of data if
the data is up-to-date? Etc.
One question I posed to the legal team a couple of years ago a about
litigation. If someone has an accident as a direct result of incorrect OS
data who is responsible? If the data is out of date and an update is
available would this be the end user who failed to update their map, or OS
for no forcing the most up to date version? Answer. Never the OS!!
