Because it wasn't labeled OT - and therefore goes into my normal inbox.
I have Thunderbird setup to move OT threads into a different (read at
some stage maybe) folder, which helps organise peoples posts within my
email client - as I primarily use this forum to help other people and to
ask for help regarding work related matters.

This thread should have been marked OT from the beginning in my opinion.

I'm not telling everyone how to use the forum - it's a community and
it'll therefore be used how the members want it to be. However I'm far
less likely to read (and therefore respond) to peoples posts if they're
completely unrelated to what I do best.
