Ah yeah .. Forgot to mention that one! Some browsers respect the gamma =
level
in PNGs, others ignore it. To ensure PNGs display consistently across
browsers (and perhaps more importantly, consistent with graphics in =
other
formats on the same page), you'll need to strip out the gamma =
information:

This is particularly important if, for example, a PNG makes up part of =
the
page and is meant to be the same colour/tone as another area (such as a
coloured or GIF background). The article above gives a good example of =
the
mismatch that can occur, and I've run into the problem several times =
myself
- much head scratching!
No wonder poor old PNGs have struggled to gain popularity, despite being
superior in almost every way to older formats!
