RE: FN-FORUM: Site check (sorry)

date posted 26th May 2007 21:05

Hi David,

I hate to say this - I am sorry, but I have to agree with most of the
comments. It will seem harsh - that I appreciate, particularly as you say
you are a coder, and that not everyone is an artist!

But - that said, I do think there are some areas to consider:

1. The square brackets around each link - are they really necessary?
2. The navigation menu - the order seems a little out; "contact" before
"about me", for example? Yes, contact is important, but we need to know who
you are first...
3. I don't think the link to an escort service is appropriate.
4. The advert for Amazon and Make a Meal of It - OK, but what purpose are
you trying to serve with these?
5. How about a photo of who you are? I know this is a little American, but I
think it is a useful way to promote who you are as a "brand" - this is what
you are trying to do, isn't it?
6. The colour scheme - sorry, yuk! I think a rethink is in order...It comes
across as something a kid who has just started on HTML put together - I know
something better can be done for this.
7. The Services page - I click on a button, and all I get is "Select from
above". What is supposed to happen here?
8. The Links page - hold on a mo, aren't these the site you have worked on?
Users will consider a links page to be something to which you have linked
to, but not necessarily worked on; they tend to be links of interest. Surely
more should be made of this as your portfolio?
9. I really do think that your Javascript and CSS should all be in separate
files, which are linked in - it makes the code look messy if they are in the
made code, and it means that you may have problems such as CSS code styling
elements which are changed by inline CSS, etc...

Alex.
