FN-FORUM: Feedback on my first "accessible" web site
date posted 14th June 2007 13:16
Good Morning All,
To be honest, I am very worried about requesting feedback on this
site. Mainly because I know how honest you are, (and some brutally
honest), but it needs to be done.
This is my first attempt at an accessible web site. We went for AAA
compliance, but i think it fails in some areas.
The problem I have is that all of the content is controlled via a
wysiwyg manager, and they can edit/change pretty much everything,
including the banners, colour schemes on the pages, etc... Although I
have put in place as many tests as possible to ensure it is
accessible:

I have been validating the site using Cynthia Says and the CSS
Validator built into the webdev toolbar you can get for firefox.. so
any tools I am missing that I should be using, do let me know.
I have gone at great lengths to include a number of accessibility
features such as alternative large font alternatives, accesskey
shortcuts, using tableless design tabindexes, etc.. but I KNOW I will
have forgotten something or done something wrong.
What I am after is the obvious and serious accessibility issues.
Please don't register, there is no need to to see how accessible the
site is, and its not completely finished yet.
I look forward to your comments and constructive feedback!
Duncan
