Well he is starting out full of beans and thinks he can make a bundle
doing it.
He hasn't met the real world yet but soon will.
He can ask whatever price he wants but do you want to pay him that?
Usually with no portfolio etc he wont get what he asks and then will
reduce his rates to get the work just as you once did etc=20
The world is a fair place it has a way of giving people what they
deserve

Subject: FN-FORUM: Is this fair? I cant decide...
I got a call today from someone starting out in web development. It was=20
a typical networking type call, just trying to get his name out there.
I did in fact, this morning, get a small piece of work that i wasnt=20
going to have time to do so i asked him to quote for it. He came back=20
with rates that you would expect from a developer with years of=20
experience and a fairly substantial portfolio, neither of which he had.
It got me thinking, is it fair for people starting out to be charging=20
rates that more experienced developers charge? My gut feeling is to say=20
no, its not fair, its taken me a long time and a lot of hard graft/late=20
nights to get to a point where i can charge such rates, so to have=20
someone just "start up" charge the same seems unfair.. or am i being a=20
grumpy old git?
