Sorry Steve, I didn't finish the comment before sending. Was trying to
multitask and wrote different bits of the email at the same time.. Doh.
If you're referring to my little story about Joe, I'm saying a guy with
*no* experience can dream up a pyramid scheme where he sits on top and
have other people doing the work for him. And no, the designer and
developers wouldn't be better off, just the man on top.
Solid knowledge and talent always wins in the end and your 3D work is
excellent so you I wouldn't imagine you having any problems.. I'll keep
you in mind if I ever get to work on a project with a budget for 3d
design.
The original reply should have gone something like this:

I wouldn't quite agree with that. Especially smaller clients often have
little appreciation for quality and will constantly say something like
"this other guy quoted half your price". You know that you either have
to walk away or lower your price.
Basically, what I'm saying is that hacks ruin it for serious
designers/developers, especially when you are starting up and you need
the work. You know what you're worth (maybe you have lots of experience
before you started up), but because some hack offers what the client
sees as an equivalent service at half the price you are forced to lower
your quote, perhaps meet in the middle.
So, if you were referring to my half finished reply.. No, a guy with
less experience won't make more money, but you will make less because
some clients just don't appreciate or recognise quality.
Of course when you're more established you can turn away work, which
doesn't meet your worth.
Hope that clears it up a little bit.
Johan
