Yes it is possible, but it's partly dependant on your laptop setup as to how
you can do it. If your laptop has an S-Video out socket (like a small DIN
plug with about five pins in it) then you can get an S-Video to 'video'
adapter cable, I put 'video' in quotes because there's probably a proper
name for it, but it's basically like a single phono lead that you find in
the back of Hi-Fi's. This is dependant on your TV having a video-in socket,
which not all do, but you may have just a SCART input instead, in which case
you can get a video>SCART adapter as well and use that:

In fact that one I just found has sockets for both S-Video and 'video'
leads.
If however your laptop doesn't have a video-out socket (either phono or
S-Video style) then you could try something like this:

- and just use the normal monitor output from the laptop (I'm pretty sure
all laptops have these).
