interesting debate on that topic here:

are_we_designers_or_developers/
if asked I would like to say I'm a web site Producer.
drawing the term from the Movie/TV industry as I loosely understand
it a producer is the person responsible for the success of the
"project" and they may engage lots of other people to work with them
(actors, writers, cameramen) but without a producer nothing gets done.
but we really do need a good term, don't we!
