Hi Keith,
Sounds like you have New dotNet domains installed on the ME machine
(this will corrupt the Winsock and DNS cache), have you tried
reinstalling the Winsock DLL files? google New DotNet dom...

Well if you are getting really desperate why not just schedule a task to do
a dir on an empty directory every few minutes. Not that I advise it mind you
but it seems a simple way of avoiding the issue...

found this utility which can send direct ATA/IDE commands to the hard
