But are they?
It's surprising how little of the working day is actually spent working.
Estimates of the time the average employed desk-jockey spends really
working range from about 4 or 5 hours a day all the way down to
1.5.
On the other hand, when I started programming professionally in C and
C++ I found I was good for about six hours of concentration. After
that my brain was shot and I started creating more problems than I
was solving.
For time sheets now I simply scribble the time down in my notebook
(or sometimes in a text editor) when I start on something and when
I stop - for whatever reason. So yes, this means I've sometimes got
"13:31->13:33" written down because the phone rang two minutes
after I sat down.
