I think that old request to have a searchable archive is now better
met by those individuals using googlemail; many of us do. So I would
also prefer the public archive to be removed. However, I suspect that
it provides a significant benefit to Dan and Andy by drawing traffic
to their business sites, and they may well struggle to justify running
the forum without this benefit.
