Those just starting out have been know to produce work for projects
advertised on these sites but only because they needed to put something in
their portfolio. No one would attempt to make living from something like
getafreelancer. I doubt whether even coders in India or China actually make
a living from those jobs.
One example of accepting a low tender... A friend of mine used to manage 5
Indian coders. They were 'OK' - smart lads who produced asp.net by the
(microsoft) book. Problem was they just didn't know about web protocols,
html standards, javascript, etc. They "were're interested in the internet"
as my mate described it. Eventually his company gave up using Indian coders.
To summarize: that Indian company did a good job during the tender process
but after they'd been awarded the contract farmed the work out to kids
straight out of college who were just too experienced to do the job. So
cost-cutting has a cost - it cascades downwards.
