Bzzzt. You shouldn't even *hint* that you have a problem with him;
say you've changed the way you do business and that you now insist
on a deposit for all work. If you haven't got a business partner to
blame for making you insist on it then you can possibly blame your
(life) partner instead - but basically someone else has unfortunately
made you insist that you take a deposit.
