Frankly you have answered your own question - you need to move on
from this client. A stiff increase in price, with a comfortable
majority up front, would probably do the trick. There are very few
clients that I wouldn't work with again, but the few I have
encountered simply get a major hike in the estimate for the next job.
If they baulk, there's an end of it. If they accept, at least you
have the satisfaction of knowing they are paying dearly^H^H^H a fair
price for the work.
Regarding deadlines: they are his, not yours, and you don't have to
accept them. You can always use other work pressures as a way of
pushing his work off into the distance.
