As a keen amateur scientist (I actually started a physics degree but
dropped out to do programming - marginally simpler and much better
paid) I did some digging around when I first heard about this idea a
few years back. Certainly the guy who believed to have discovered it
was persecuted and threatened by the big fuel companies, and I have no
doubt that the military would have been willing to invest in it, but I
think most people have missed the point here completely.
Getting over-unity energy by splitting water molecules is
theoretically impossible and I have to say that's probably a fair
call, but that doesn't mean that his discoveries weren't incredible
anyway. We already split water molecules for all sorts of reasons, and
this technology is massively more efficient than pretty much any other
method than organic (which is incredibly slow). As the recombination
of the gases is explosive it could also prove to be an incredibly
efficient means of powering vehicles from a battery, as traditional
electric motors are not terribly efficient. It seems a pity to me that
such a potentially cool technology is being ignored just because the
guy that discovered it actually thought he had achieved the holy grail
of physics with it, and now only nutters seem to want to be associated
with it.
Just my opinion though.
