I think part of the problem is the mailing list software sends mails
direct to our email addresses, instead of a [EMAIL REMOVED]
address and bcc to our real address. A lot of auto-responders like the
"come rob my house, I'm on holiday" or "I must tell the world that I'm
not at work today" only respond to direct mails, they won't respond to
To: addresses if it's not the correct address.

Still they are easily filtered by our mail clients, but the mailing list
should also filter them out too so the people who get the digest mail
don't have to get them too.
