Im looking to do exactly the same thing at some point. As far as I know
so far, it would be a good idea to have a contractor to use an umbrella
company to cover yourself against any unpaid taxes by the contractor
(There will be new legislation coming in February. Im not sure the exact
details, so it may be worth going to the IR site). Also, I was told the
best thing to do is do a monthly contract. That way you are not tied
into a long term agreement. This might be wrong, but this is what I was
told.
