I had a situation where a client owed me =A3600. And although I worked =20=
for this client for years, I had that 'niggling' feeling that =20
something was going funny there. I called them up and let them know =20
that I would be in London the following week, so I could just stop by =20=
and collect. I thought this would encourage him to pay straight away. =20=
But no joy. He said he would pay 'half' when I got there. I think he =20
thought it would easy to fob me off, being that I'm based in Spain.
So I went into the offices, brought along my rather short-sighted =20
rockabilly/biker boyfriend. (Short-sighted meant he looked as though =20
he was glaring all the time...)
Funnily enough, the accountant wasn't there and he couldn't find my =20
cheque. But he immediately offered to write a new one.
"How much did I say?"
"I'd like the whole amount, thanks."
Until the cheque cleared, I was still nervous that it would bounce. =20
The company went under about a month later...
SO yes, a personal visit could be just what you need. :)
