Re: FN-FORUM: late payment
date posted 8th January 2008 19:17
I have only had one adverse experience like this. While they didn't =20
contest the invoice they closed down the project and in effect said =20
they didn't see any reason why they should pay me a penny, even for =20
work carried out and invoiced before the project was canned. I simply =20=
sent them a very polite but firm letter when the invoice had aged by =20
the 30 day limit using the text suggested on the late payment website. =20=
This included a calculation of the interest and compensation to date. =20=
A week later I sent another with an updated figures. No response. A =20
week later again and I sent a final letter saying that if I didn't =20
receive payment of the current debt (including compensation and =20
interest) by a date five days hence I would take the case to the =20
County Court. I received full payment by return.
I don't think phone calls are worth doing, and certainly not daily - =20
they could accuse you of harassing them. Get it on paper, be polite =20
and resolute, don't threaten.
Ian.
