Ken,
The archive will stay the same size until you archive it.
I have done this before and lost all the emails :(

Subject: FN-FORUM: Outlook .pst files
I got into a bit of a fix with the Outlook 2003 archive function yesterday.
Before I started trying to use the archive function, to make sure I didn't
lose anything, I made a copy (with Outlook closed) of the outlook.pst before
I let the archive function run.
The copy .pst file was in the same directory as the original. Then to my
dismay, I found that even though Outlook did not have the backup file
'connected' as a data file; Outlook proceeded to archive the content of that
file too!
To make things worse, even though the archive was set to archive before 1
Aug 2007 it actually deleted e-mail prior to Jan 2003 from everywhere!
Including the backup copy of the .pst file.
Arghhhhh!
The backup file is the same size as it was originally, its just the mails
are not visible from Outlook.
Any recovery ideas?
Thanks
Ken
