Re: FN-FORUM: hosting for the UK?

date posted 22nd January 2008 09:10

In my experience, buying domain registration and hosting from the
same supplier usually results in problems when changing hosting
arrangements later. You may also be relying on the hosting company to
renew the domain on time. I use 123reg for domains and OpenHosting for
hosting; happy with both, but I have not compared service levels with
others recently. Perhaps more importantly, I discovered the hard way
that it is definitely not a good idea to use the free mail forwarding
service of the domain registrar... Their servers are frequently
black-listed resulting in the loss of some mail, so my advice is to
always take the option to use your hosting supplier's name servers.
