Of course there are many, many reasons for using CSS, but one that you
ought to consider is accessibility. Sites laid out in tables don't read
correctly in speech browsers. Plus, if you are using a low resolution
(because you have rubbish eyesight, for example, or an old PC (you are
poor, perhaps), those clever tables usually involve scrolling
horizontally - eewwww!!

Subject: Re: FN-FORUM: Sitecheck - Updating my website - using CSS
Hi nigel - thanks for the advice
Can I ask people then - if the primary objective is to get the website
to
display properly - why use CSS at all, as it seems to be a complete pain
in
the rear - at least with tables I know it is going to display correctly,
the
reason I want to use css is I hope it may have an impact on my google
rating
Most sites designed using css do not display correctly in IE 5 on my Mac
(including your own) - thatıs not a criticism, by the way - it is just
stating that as far as I can see, I have tried to follow the 'rules' of
css
positioning, and it works fine on my browser - I have mailed it to many
people all of which say it is fine - plus used this link
http://browsershots.org/http://www.photofixer.co.uk/photofixer_v4/
And they all seem fine - so it Is just IE ...
As I said - I am not primarily a web designer, is there any way I can
auto
detect IE browsers and redirect users to a table based layout
I will look into the issue of correcting it for IE, but most of my
potential
customers (photographers and ad agencies) are using OS X / Safari and
similar
