FN-FORUM: ASP/ASP.NET 2.0/3.5. Which is best?

date posted 17th April 2008 14:47

Sorry if this steals some of your thunder Mr(s) PHP but I have a =
question
about ASP/ASP.NET. Maybe you can help with ASP.

I need to create several medium to large web sites for a company. We =
intend
to outsource technical aspects of the site(s) such as programming for
e-commerce etc.

More details should follow in a future posting but for now;

We had been planning to develop in ASP.NET 2.0/3.5 but recently some =
(ASP
based) people/companies have tried to convince us that .NET is dead and
buried because it is too complicated to develop in.

I have searched everywhere on the net but can't find any independent
articles explaining the real differences between ASP and ASP.NET. Lots =
of
articles listing the theoretical advantages of .NET but none saying what =
all
the real world disadvantages are. At the moment, .NET 2.0 is preferable
because I have spent a bit of time learning it and have seen some =
features
which I like in particular what I have heard of security.

1. Can anyone comment?

2. Any developers who want to make themselves known to me at this stage?

Regards,

Clark Johnson
