Especially if you are looking long term and ecommerce, I would suggest
going the PHP route.
I have absolutely no dealings with ASP .NET whatsoever but each time I
hear it mentioned I tend to get "oh no".
The other reason for pushing PHP your way is because all the ecomm sites
I've built have been in PHP.
I now that's not really what you were asking but thought I would chip in.
