FN-FORUM: Dedicated Windows Managed Server?
date posted 18th April 2008 18:57
What's a ball park monthy price for something good. It must be located at a
server farm where it has incredibly reliable web access. Must be at least
2Gb RAM, but why not 4Gb?, as this seems to be where most servers fall down
most. The host must backup crucial files daily and should also install
windows updates as and when they feel it appropriate. It must run ASP.NET
3.5, AJAX, SQL Server eXpress and, ideally, a free mail server.
This current server only has 1Gb RAM and is driving me nuts - nothing I do
seems to improve the performance by much. Ha, ha. There are an average of
50 - 75 users per day on this web site - which has its own dedicated server
and I count 22 timeouts today already - with the connection string set to
"Connection Lifetime=300;"
The only thing I can think of right now is to cut the Min Pool Size down
from 20 to 4 and get my client to pay for a better server.
