AFAIK 30 days is just a standard period set in law where no other
payment period has been specified. If you like, you can set terms of
payment on demand - as per my accountant. :(

If your client expects you to wait until they are paid for a specific
project without having agreed this with you in advance, then they
could simply keep you waiting forever and you have no power to chase
their customer for the debt.

I can't see this being legally defensible.
